City Of Chattanooga Requests Public Input On 3rd And 4th Street Improvements

  • Wednesday, September 30, 2015

The public is invited to participate in the transformation and improvement planning of the 3rd and 4th Street corridor and the connection to Riverfront Parkway. The City of Chattanooga is upgrading the area to ensure safety, improve traffic flow and increase accessibility, while also creating a corridor that is appealing and reconnects the downtown area.

New and enhanced connections will unite neighborhoods with community anchors like the University of Tennessee at Chattanooga, the Chattanooga School for the Art & Sciences, Siskin and Erlanger. The 3rdand 4th Street improvements will also encourage economic development through reducing traffic congestion, promoting safety for everyone including pedestrians, and strengthening connectivity.

While boosting economic activity along the corridor is one goal, the project will also explore adding direct connections to the Riverwalk and alleviating stormwater issues. Improving safety is central to the 3rd and 4th Street transformation, and the project will look into additional options for improving the experience of people biking and walking.
