Evangeline Allison
Evangeline “Vangie” Wood Allison, 84, of Chattanooga, died on Friday, July 3, 2015, In a local health care facility, surrounded by her loving family.
She was born Feb. 10, 1931, in Chattanooga, to the late Clarence and Venita Wood. She was a 1949 graduate of City High School. She married her high school sweetheart the late Ralph Allison. She was very involved in the East Ridge Schools where her sons attended. She retired as a realtor from Buffington Real Estate. She was a member of the East Ridge Baptist Church.
She and Ralph retired to the beach in Ponce Inlet, Fl., in 1996. They enjoyed many days fishing on the pier. Vangie was very well traveled, but her biggest joy was being with her
family. She had a very contagious laugh and smile that would fill the room. Her heart was so caring and generous. Vangie was a woman of strong character and determination who had a wonderful sense of humor and made everyone she touched a better person. She will be truly missed by her family and friends.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Ralph E. Allison; and her twin brothers, Jack and Bill Wood.
She is survived by her sons and daughters-in-law, Ralph and Gloria Allison, Jr. of Columbia, SC, and Rick and Debbie Allison of Chattanooga; grandchildren, Jeff Allison and fiancee’, Lauren Merical of Herndon, VA; Brandon Allison of Norfolk, VA; Ricky and Beth Allison of Apison; great- granddaughters, Emily Allison of Norfolk, VA; Aubrey Allison, of Apison; sister and brother-in-law, Sarah and Milburn Pryor of Ponce Inlet, FL; and several nieces and nephews.
Funeral services will be at 11 a.m. on Tuesday, July 7, in the funeral home chapel with Dr. Chris Carter officiating. Burial will follow at Hamilton Memorial Gardens.
