James "Herschel" Parker, 70, of Soddy Daisy, Tennessee and formerly of Acworth, Geordia, died on Wednesday, July 29, 2015 after a long battle with Alzheimer's disease.

Born Jan. 9th, 1945 in Acworth, GA to the late Herman Thomas Parker and Annie Lee Dupree Parker, he was also preceded in death by his beloved wife, Jacqueline Ann Parker; his son, Ricky Cargile; three brothers, Earl Parker, Wesley Parker and Toby Parker; and one sister, Rachel Collins.

He is survived by his daughter and caregiver, Michelle Parker Whitbeck and husband Al; son Bradley Parker all of Soddy Daisy; step-sons, Timmy Cargile and Alan Cargile both of Georgia; grandchildren, Jessica Hyndman Middleton of Acworth, Jennifer Lee Hyndman, of Soddy Daisy, Marian Lively of Cartersville, Courtney Mcdonald of Norfolk, VA, Crystal Cargile of Ten mile, Heather Knight of Rome, GA and Whitney Tarantino of Kennesaw, GA; several great-grandchildren; sisters, Shirley Ledford  and Sarah Gayton of Acworth, GA; brothers, Buster Parker and Herb Dupree, of Acworth, GA; and several nieces and nephews.

The family will hold a celebration of his life memorial with family and friends in upcoming weeks.

The family asks that in lieu of flowers, donations be made in the honor of Mr. James H. Parker to the Alzheimer's Association,  alz.org.

Companion Funeral Home has charge of the arrangements.
