Having attended the funeral of Sgt. David Wyatt last Friday, it seems to me that no one has mentioned the outstanding job that the employees of our National Cemetery performed that day.
I arrived early that day and was on hand to witness the work these patriots put in to ensure everyone was safe, could see and hear and, above all, ensure that the family of Sgt. Wyatt were honored and respected properly.
Unfortunately, I was only able to see the name tag of one of these gentleman, a fellow with a broad brimmed hat named Bill, who seemed to be in charge of the effort.
Nonetheless, I wish to thank these unsung heroes for the outstanding job they did for the families of the fallen, the Marines, sailors and soldiers, the citizens of Chattanooga and the surrounding area.

I did not attend the services at our National Cemetery for the servicemen but read John Sanders' letter concerning the workers at the cemetery. My father was in George Patton's Third Army and passed away almost 10 years ago. He is buried in the National Cemetery along with my mother who joined him two years later. In the 10 years I have been visiting their resting place I have never been there when the grounds were not in immaculate condition no matter what the weather conditions.
The management and staff at the National Cemetery do a magnificent job in preserving the memory of those who served our country. I know all of those who have relatives in the cemetery join me in thanking them for their dedication and hard work.
