Lee University will host the 2015 Church of God Teen Talent from Aug. 3-7.

Teen Talent is an international competition which aims to help young people ages 13-19 discover their talents, develop that talent, and dedicate it to better serve the Lord.

“These students are some of the most talented individuals on the planet,” said David Blair, international assistant director of youth and discipleship. “Youth today have an extraordinary capacity to learn, to develop skills, and to display leadership. Realizing this, the Church of God continues to challenge them to reach their greatest potential through Teen Talent for ministry effectiveness and Kingdom work.”

The five-day event features competition in music, art, drama, multimedia, creative writing and Bible.

Dr. Mike Hayes, Lee’s vice president for student development, oversees the university’s role in Teen Talent along with more than 200 staff members and students. According to Dr. Hayes, Lee will provide some of the adjudicators for the competition, technical and ushering services, Physical Plant and Dining Services support, and evening events for the competitors. Lee will also be housing approximately 1,400 guests from around the world for the event.

Lee-coordinated activities for Teen Talent participants will include a block party, a worship rally, a Lee music showcase, Battles of the States (a series of team games in which participants represent their home states), and will assist with an awards festival.

The Teen Talent Awards Festival will take place on Friday, Aug. 7, at 8 p.m. on the lawn of Lee’s Science and Math Complex and will welcome more than 4,000 guests, including participants and their families.

“Hosting Teen Talent on the Lee University campus is a wonderful opportunity to partner with the Church of God Department of Youth and Discipleship to serve our youth and their families,” said Dr. Hayes. “Our objective is to encourage our participants to pursue excellence with the gifts they have been given. This is at the heart of Teen Talent and Lee University’s mission.”
