Women Expected To Get Into The Mix To Replace Judge Stern

  • Wednesday, July 1, 2015

Some women are expected to get in the mix in the quest to replace Judge Rebecca Stern, who was the only local female judge in Criminal Court.

Stevie Phillips, an attorney with the Davis and Hoss law firm, said she plans to apply.

Other female names mentioned include Amanda Dunn, who was sitting as special judge in General Sessions Court, Criminal, on Wednesday, and Tracy Cox, attorney who is the daughter of former District Attorney Bill Cox.

Tom Greenholtz applied early. Others mentioned include Sam Robinson III and John McDougal.

The governor's office has asked for additional names as choices to replace Judge Stern after rejecting three prior choices, including one woman.

The application deadline is Monday at noon.

The candidates will then be interviewed by the Governor’s Council for Judicial Appointments, which will forward three more names to Governor Bill Haslam.
