Scenic City Women’s Network Honors Chattanooga Author/Speaker Dr. Nell Mohney

Scenic City Women’s Network has chosen Dr. Nell Mohney for their 2015 “Lydia Impact Award” which honors extraordinary Christian working women. She will be recognized at the Scenic City Women’s Network’s 11th Annual Praise Breakfast on June 25. 

Officials said, "Dr. Mohney’s contributions in the area of faith based mentoring and encouragement for all women have been long standing.  Nell is a writer, lecturer, motivational speaker and Sunday school teacher. Her column appears weekly in the Chattanooga Times Free Press.  She has been tireless in her many contributions to the Chattanooga community, First Centenary United Methodist Church, where her husband Dr. Ralph Mohney served as senior minister for over 40 years, as well as her continued support of Scenic City Women’s Network, being the first luncheon speaker in 1994, the year the organization was founded. Dr. Mohney’s words of wisdom and the sharing of her own faith journey have made a difference in so many lives."

“It is with great respect and appreciation that we are able to recognize her”, says Patti Harris, executive director of SCWN.

Dr. Mohney is a native of Shelby, NC, a graduate and Distinguished Alumnus of Greensboro College, and a recipient of the Doctor of Humane Letters degree from Tennessee Wesleyan College. She is the author of 13 books, the latest of which is "Just Choose Happiness.’ Dr. Mohney speaks throughout the nation and leads seminars for business, professional and church organizations. In 1993 she was inducted into the Chattanooga Women of Distinction Hall of Fame, in 1998 she was named in Marquis' Who's Who in America and in 1999 was named Tennessee Woman of Distinction.

The 11th Annual Praise Breakfast is to be held at the Chattanooga Convention Center on June 25 from 7-9 a.m.  The theme of the event is “Living Your Faith in the Workplace.”  Babbie Mason, nationally known gospel singer, songwriter and author, will be the featured speaker and singer for the event.  Ms. Mason is currently serving as adjunct professor of songwriting at Point University and Lee University as well as a television talk-show host.  

The Praise Breakfast is open to the public, and both men and women are encouraged to attend. Tickets are $25 each, or table sponsorships for $200 include priority seating and recognition in the program. Tickets can be purchased through the organization’s website at www.scwn.org or by contacting the organization at 423-698-6262 by the Thursday, June 18 deadline.
