The Tennessee Fish and Wildlife Commission will hold a one day June meeting in Nashville at Tennessee Wildlife Resources Agency’s Ray Bell Region II Building. The commission will meet June 26 beginning at 9 a.m.
Mark Duda, executive director of Responsive Management, is an internationally known human dimensions analyst who specializes in wildlife/natural resources. He has conducted several public surveys for several southeastern states, including Tennessee, and will make a presentation to the commission.
He is currently under contract to assist with the U.S. Fish and Wildlife Service national survey which occurs every five years.
The TWRA will present an amendment to the rules and regulations of live wildlife. Occasionally, the TWRA sees a need to add non-native wildlife to the regulations that could be detrimental to native wildlife. The two species are the African clawed frog and the marbled or Marmorkreb crayfish. Both of the species could enter Tennessee waters through the pet trade.
The TFWC’s June meeting is its last scheduled meeting until August. The commission traditionally does not meet during July. The TFWC’s next scheduled meeting is also a one day meeting on Aug. 21 in Morristown.
