BlueCross Riverbend Run And Walk Offers 3 Ways To Participate

  • Monday, June 1, 2015

The BlueCross Annual Riverbend Run & Walk will take place on Saturday, June 6, at the Riverbend Festival grounds along Riverfront Parkway. This year’s event includes 5k and 10k competitive runs and a 1-Mile Fun Run to benefit the Children’s Hospital at Erlanger.

“A portion of proceeds will go to Children’s Hospital at Erlanger, and BlueCross will match what is raised,” said Sarah Raines, corporate sponsorship project manager for BlueCross.

“Last year, the event raised $10,000 to benefit the hospital’s tremendous work.”

Race events start at 7:30 a.m. under the Olgiati (Highway 27) Bridge. The 5k and10k courses are competitive events with overall cash prizes, age/gender categories, and courses which are USA Track and Field certified. The One-Mile Fun Run is a non-competitive event designed to encourage everyone to take a step toward a heathier lifestyle. Wheelchairs and strollers can be used in the One-Mile Fun Run/Walk.

Registration information:

  • 5k and 10k registration is $25 (adults); $20 for those 12 & under or 60 & over
  • One-Mile Fun Run/Walk registration is $18
  • Competitive timing devices are $2

Paul Shahen from News Channel 9 will host the event. Healthcare specialists from the Chattanooga Center for Sports Medicine and Orthopedics will help runners warm up before the race. The Children’s Miracle Network will participate in the One-Mile Fun Run.

After the race, participants can enjoy activities including amusement rides and concessions.  Attendees will be able to capture their moments in pictures at the photo booth, which will be onsite, as well.
