St. Paul A.M.E. Holds Women's Day Celebration June 14

St.  Paul A.M.E. Church will hold its 2015 Women’s Day Celebration Women of Integrity (Talk to Me) on Sunday, June 14 at 11 a.m. EST. 

The program speaker is Sister Maxine Spencer Adkins, wife, mother, and teacher. She is a native of Beckley, West VA. Mrs. Adkins and her husband, Elder Paul C. Adkins currently reside in Chattanooga, and are members of St. Paul A.M.E. church. 

After graduating from the public school system, she married Rev. Paul C. Adkins, and it is within this partnership she trained a family. Mrs. Adkins’ educational background includes studies at Pittsburg Community College, the University of Pittsburg, and the University of Richmond. In later years the Adkins’ moved to Richmond, VA, Ardmore, PA, and now reside in Chattanooga. 

As an accomplished seamstress, Mrs. Adkins has had a variety of staff and management positions with regional clothing manufacturers. She is experienced in all phases of clothing construction for men, women, and children. Currently she is retired from dressmaking and the tailoring business, but not from GOD.

Mrs. Adkins has been a frequent speaker and seminar leader for the A.M.E. Church, as well as for other denominational churches and organizations. Her ministry – A Pragmatic Christian Approach to Interpersonal Communications - is based on Bible Truths and her years of experience in the field of Human Relations. Through individual counseling, discussion groups, lectures, and music, Mrs. Adkins teaches men, women, and children of various ages how to live the Christian life in today’s world.

Mrs. Adkins has been the guest speaker on a number of Woman’s Day and Missionary Day Programs, and conducts seminars on Christian Marriages and Christian Teenage Dating. Over the years she has served in the church in various capacities that include Sunday School Superintendent, Sunday School Teacher, and the chair of several church-sponsored special events.

Mrs. Adkins is the very proud mother of one son and three daughters, one daughter-in-Love, and two sons-in-Love. She’s the grandmother of seven grandchildren and one great-grand child. She has been married to Elder Paul Adkins for 63 years.
