Teps students, advisors and speakers gather at the annual Teps Leadership Forum. McCallie students who will serve as leaders in the next school year gathered at the Brock-Lazenby Room in Alumni Hall to participate in the annual Teps Leadership Forum.
Members of student organizations, including the Resident Advisers, Day Student Advisors, Keo-Kio, Steudent Councel and Teps gathered to learn about leadership in preparation for the 2015-16 schoool year.
The two-hour forum included former McCallie Headmaster Spencer McCallie, Lamp Post Group co-founder Jack Studer and local attorney Micah Guster.
Mr. McCallie, a 1955 McCallie graduate and headmaster from 1974-1999, spoke on “Why a Board Chair as a 'senior citizen' in retirement?” to tell students about his continued leadership work on civic boards after retirement and and how everyone can continue to to be a leader for a lifetime
Mr. Studer spoke "Growing Up in Exponential Times" and told of his extensive work with start-up companies with Lamp Post Group and as a general partner in the Chattanooga Renaissance Fund and other buisness equity organizations.
Mr. Guster, a 2001 McCallie graduate, told the students about how to use faith and spirituality to be an effective leader in his talk “I'm A Soul Man: Thoughts on Spiritual Leadership.” Mr Guster has worked in law and government at the state and national level and has worked with the United States Trustee Program on criminal and civil bankruptcy matters and legal clinics for the indigent.
Several McCallie student leaders came out to the morning forum and were rewarded with advice as they prepare to be the next generation of leaders at school and beyond.
