The Lee University offense exploded for 28 runs off 33 hits in a Gulf South Conference (GSC) doubleheader sweep of host Christian Brothers University Saturday afternoon. The Flames won the opener 15-3 in a run-rule shortened game and claimed the series win with a 13-2 margin in the nightcap.

Lee (28-17-1, 16-13-1 GSC) and Christian Brothers (9-25, 5-19 GSC) are scheduled to play the series finale on Sunday at 2 p.m. EDT.

Five Flames tallied at least four hits in the two games. Trenton Hill and Chris Adams led the way with five hits. Hill drilled a double and a home run, while Adams legged out three doubles. Three of Ben Holland’s four hits were home runs.  Luke Toms and Nate Wierzgac added three singles and a double each.

“Chris (Adams) was phenomenal at the plate all day,” said Lee head coach Mark Brew. “He had some great swings. Ben (Holland) obviously had a huge power day for us and our hitters did a great job hitting with two strikes. Tomorrow will be a different day. We need to come out with the same aggressive mind set from the start.”

“The big inning was key for us to getting away from them on a windy day,” said Brew. The three-run homer from Ben Holland set the tone in the first inning and our hitters did a good job of keeping pressure on Christian Brothers’ pitching staff. Additionally, Logan Campbell had a very good relief outing.”
