Chief Fletcher, Top Command Replacing Mailbox Damaged During Pursuit Of Murder Suspects

Chattanooga Police Chief Fred Fletcher and some of his top command were replacing a mailbox that was demolished during the April 11 pursuit of suspects in a murder case.

The three suspects – while fleeing from police – wrecked the vehicle they had allegedly stolen.

The location is 3005 Kerndale Dr.

Javonte Davis and Gary Toney Jr. were arrested after a body was found at 404 Tunnel Blvd. They were charged with felony murder, especially aggravated robbery, conspiracy and tampering with evidence.

·         The vehicle that belong to the victim of the apparent homicide was missing from the scene.

·         Officers identified the vehicle at 4:35 p.m. that day. The suspects spotted police and began shooting at the officers.

·         Two innocent bystanders were shot. They suffered minor injuries and were treated and released from the hospital.

·         The suspects fled the scene and were followed by police.

·         The suspect wrecked the vehicle and a juvenile female was taken into custody.

·         The other two suspects fled the scene but were found by police within an hour.
