Local colleges have come together after a one year hiatus to bring the Broad Street Film Festival back to Downtown Chattanooga on Saturday, April 18. The Broad Street Film Festival is an opportunity for collegiate students in Southeast Tennessee to exhibit their talents in filmmaking to other students and the Chattanooga community-at-large.
"For students who are still learning and perfecting their craft, Broad Street Film Festival is the perfect venue,” says Chad Wilson, a Chattanooga State Community College 2015 graduate.
“BSFF has given collegiate filmmakers an opportunity to showcase their work on a big screen for 10 years now. Glad to be a part of this festival .”
Film screenings will take place at the Carmike Majestic 12 on Broad St. on April 18. Show times are 1, 5, and 9 p.m.. Tickets will be available at the door for $7.50 per person, but an online donation of $10 or more to the Broad Street Film Festival Fund via The Community Foundation of Greater Chattanooga (
www.cfgc.org) will provide donors with two tickets to the film screenings.
To carry-on the festival's dedication to the further education of collegiate filmmakers, student submissions ranging from short narrative films, documentaries, trailers and music videos will be critically judged for awards in cinematography, editing, screenwriting, directing, acting and other technical categories. A student-only awards banquet will be held Sunday, April 19 to announce the winners and allow students to network with one another.
Incorporated as a non-profit organization in 2010, the Broad Street Film Festival has its roots at Bryan College in Dayton, Tn. over ten years ago. In 2009, the Bryan Film Festival began the process of merging with area colleges Covenant College, Southern Adventist University and Chattanooga State Community College to provide students with a greater opportunity for peer critique and networking.
The Broad Street Film Festival seeks to enhance the film community in the Chattanooga area by hosting annual film festivals which provide educational and networking opportunities for student filmmakers.
