Woman With Multiple DUIs Charged With Aggravated Vehicular Homicide

A Chattanooga woman with multiple DUIs has been charged with aggravated vehicular homicide in connection with a fatal wreck on I-24 at Lookout Valley in February 2014.

Debra Jane Carney, 34, of 14th Avenue, is also charged with driving on a revoked license, failure to maintain lane, reckless endangerment, reckless aggravated assault, failure to obtain insurance, and DUI.

James Ledford, 69, died in the crash near Cummings Road. Ms. Carney was driving a GMC Envoy when she lost control. She first hit a guardrail, then a tree.

Ms. Carney had picked up her third DUI in 2004.
