Human Plus Day Showcases Local Adaptive Technology Innovators And Users

Human Plus Day, a day about celebrating the marvel of engineering and human performance, will be held at Creative Discovery Museum on Saturday.  The event will showcase people in the community who design and use cutting-edge technologies to help themselves and others achieve their fullest potential, said officials.

Participants will be able to meet the engineers, therapists and athletes who develop, test and use the innovative technologies of prosthetics, orthotics, and other adaptive equipment. 

Schedule of Events:
Noon to 2 p.m.: Ezra Reynolds from Assistive Technology Services at Signal Centers will share his knowledge of engineering and adaptive equipment with guests. He will demonstrate how he uses a 3D printer in his work to build prosthetics and adaptive equipment for people like his son. 

Noon to 4 p.m.: Elaine Adams from Therapeutic Recreation Services will bring in a collection of adaptive recreation equipment for guests to learn about and get hands-on experience with. Lindsay Wyatt from Siskin Hospital for Physical Rehabilitation will also bring in adaptive equipment and share how low-tech accommodations for clients are created. 

Fillauer will be on hand to share information about their company and the tools and equipment they create for their clients. A high school varsity athlete from Sweetwater, Tn. will also talk about his experience as a member of Amputee Blade Runner, a program that provides prosthetic athletics equipment to help young athletes reach their full potential.
