A babysitter said she was raped by a man she knew only as "Tay."

Police charged Carvonta Quentin "Tay" Petty, 27, of 1006 Crutchfield St., with rape.

In the incident on Monday, the girl said "Tay" came to the residence where she was watching several children. She said she decided to lie down on a mattress in the living room floor while the children were sleeping.

She said "Tay" began asking her about her past sexual experiences. She said he then grabbed her hand and tried to force her hand onto his penis.

She said he then got up off the couch and locked the front door.

The girl said she was lying face down as the man got on top of her, pulled her pants and underwear down and proceeded to rape her. She said he then placed her in different positions until he was finished.

She said he then went straight to the bathroom. She said she heard the water running and later saw a rag on the sink.

The girl said she knew "Tay" well enough that she could identify him if she was shown his picture.

The owner of the residence said she also knew "Tay" and said she believed his last name was Petty. She said he had a tattoo on his forearm that reads "Petty."
