A house on Signal Mountain burned to the ground on Monday afternoon.

At 3:30 p.m., Walden's Ridge Emergency Service personnel responded to the house fire at 2045 Oak St.

First fire units on the scene reported fire pouring out of the attic and 35 percent of the home was on fire. Firefighters conducted a "defensive attack" to get the fire under control.

Walden's Ridge Emergency Services requested a Mutual Aid response to the scene for additional manpower. The Signal Mountain Fire Department, Lone Oak VFD, Red Bank Fire Department and Dallas Bay VFD responded to assist WRES personnel.

Fire officials report the homeowner, Henry Estill, was not home when the fire broke out. No injuries were reported, but Hamilton County EMS was on the scene for any potential injuries.

The cause of the fire is undetermined and will be under investigation by the Hamilton County Sheriff's Office. Damages are listed at $125,000.

Mr. Estill will be staying with family.
