Curtis W. Phillips, 66, of Hixson, died on Monday, March 2, 2015, in a local hospital, after a brief illness.
He was a 1967 graduate of Red Bank High School and was of the Baptist faith. Curtis was a die-hard fan of the Tennessee Vols and the Lady Vols. He proudly attended all home games and nearly all away games from 1969 to 2004 when he became disabled. Memories his family will always cherish.
He was preceded in death by his precious mother, Mildred K. Phillips; grandmother, Lula B. Keenum; favorite aunt, Jackie Keenum; uncles: Chester, William H., Covell G. and Floyd C. Keenum.
Curtis is survived by his only sister, Shirley P. Burton of Hixson; aunts, Rose Eloise Bowman of Hixson and Irene Tippett of Sheffield, AL; special cousins: Mary L. Willis of Sheffield, AL, Michael Keenum of Biloxi, MS, Rochelle Bolton of Soddy Daisy and Allison Hixson of Red Bank and others.
Curtis was everyone’s sports encyclopedia, who knew all things about sports. He will be missed by all who called to supply or verify all sports memorabilia.
Funeral services will be at 2:30 p.m. on Friday, March 6, at Lane Funeral Home, Ashland Terrace with Reverend Tommy Deifenderfer officiating. Interment is private.
Visitation will be from 5-8 p.m. on Thursday, March 5, at Lane Funeral Home, Ashland Terrace, 877-3524.
