Parent Company Of Walker, Catoosa Newspapers Sold

The parent company of the Walker County Messenger and the Catoosa County News has been sold.

Times-Journal Inc. of Marietta, Ga., is buying News Publishing Co., which also owns the Rome News-Tribune and several other papers.

The $3.05 million sale was approved by a U.S. Bankruptcy Court judge.

Other papers included are the Calhoun Times, the Polk County Standard Journal and the Cherokee County Herald of Centre, Ala..

The Rome newspaper had been in the same family since 1928.
