Police said a dispute among neighbors over leaf blowing escalated from a knife, to a handgun, to a shotgun.

Leroy Marsh, 78, of 1206 Chamberlain Ave. wound up being arrested for aggravated assault.

Orville Hughes, 53, said Marsh apparently took offense when he was blowing leaves near his property.

He said they argued, then Marsh came down from the porch and onto the sidewalk holding a knife.

Hughes said he retreated to his residence and came back out with a gun and holster.

He said he looked up on the porch before leaving his yard and saw Marsh sitting on the porch holding a shotgun. He then retreated and called police.

Marsh said he had been upset over leaves being blown onto his yard. He said he had a knife, but did not display it. He said he got his shotgun because he knew his neighbor had a handgun.

Hughes said he was not threatened by the shotgun but was by the knife, so an officer took Marsh into custody.
