Dr. Joel Kailing presents Steve Hartline with the Distinguished Alumnus Award for the Department of Communication Arts at its Homecoming breakfast.
Lee University’s Communication Arts Department honored Steve Hartline as its 2015 Distinguished Alumnus at a department breakfast during Lee’s Homecoming.
“I loved having Steve in class,” said Mary Dukes, senior lecturer in communication at Lee. “He was one of those students who knew exactly what he wanted, which was to work in radio and make a positive impact on the Bradley County community. It is exciting and fulfilling to see him, over 10 years later, doing exactly what he planned to do.”
Mr. Hartline is a 2000 graduate of Lee University who majored in telecommunications. At 15 years old, he began working in radio doing play-by-plays of Cleveland High School baseball. Mr. Hartline bought WCLE (Mix 104.1) in 2008 and launched “Talk 101.3 The Buzz” in 2012. As co-host of Mix Mornings since 2003, Mr. Hartline says he loves engaging with the Southeast Tennessee area each morning.
Mr. Hartline’s company publishes four magazines per year including “Southeast Tennessee Woman,” “Southeast Tennessee High School Football Preview,” and “Southeast Tennessee Winter Sports Preview.” He also puts on live events, which are attended by thousands of people each year.
Mr. Hartline and his wife, Jennifer, have two children, Reagan and Holden.
