Annual Scenic City Wings Cooking Competition Will Benefit The Chattanooga Area Food Bank

  • Friday, October 2, 2015

The Chattanooga Market’s annual wings competition, Scenic City Wings, returns on Oct. 11 from 11 a.m.-4 p.m. with six local restaurants vying for the title of Scenic City’s Best Wings of 2015. All proceeds from the event will benefit the Chattanooga Area Food Bank.

Teams from Chatter Box Café, Diamond Billard Club, Mrs. B's Reggae Café, The Feed Company & Alchemy Spice, The Honest Pint, and Tupelo Honey will leave behind their well-equipped kitchens and appear on The Chattanooga Market stage where they will attempt to out-cook their competitors.

Expected to be another blazing competition, Scenic City Wings will feature unique wing recipes created by each of the competitors. Patrons of the event can pay $10 to sample two wings from each establishment and cast their vote for the title of best wings. The event will culminate with two winners—Popular Vote and Judge’s Choice.

“The Scenic City Wings competition is an event the Chattanooga Area Food Bank looks forward to each year," says Marisa Ogles, director of External Relations. "While our community is eating great food from the local wing chefs on Sunday, they are simultaneously supporting us in our efforts to feed people who struggle with hunger in our area.”

Last year, Alchemy Spice Co. and 1885 Grill won both the Popular Vote and the Judge’s Choice vote with a nontraditional wing recipe featuring a smoky, sweet and spicy blend. Following the competition, the recipe became a regular feature on 1885 Grill’s Monday night menu.
