Weight Limit Reduction On Bridge Over Friar Branch On Standifer Gap Road

  • Thursday, October 15, 2015
The weight limit for the Standifer Gap Road bridge over Friar Branch (between Hickory Valley Road and Glencrofte Lane) has been reduced from 6 tons to 3 tons following a recent Tennessee Department of Transportation inspection.  This weight limit reduction will limit bridge traffic to only passenger cars and light duty pickups not pulling a trailer.  All other traffic should take an alternate route.  Signs are posted from each direction.

The design and analysis to address bridge deficiencies is currently in process through the Chattanooga Department of Transportation.
