The Cleveland City Council may make some changes to the 1993 charter that officials said has generally worked very well.
One needed change relates to the city's personnel policy.
While asking the General Assembly to make that adjustment, officials said it may be time to ask for other changes.
Councilman David May said that may be a good idea, though "we have had very few problems."
Councilman Avery Johnson noted that he was one of those who worked on the charter. "You can pat me right here," he joked.
He said the charter group at the time "did a lot of work on it."
Councilman Richard Banks suggested getting together some of the same group from the 1993 edition. He agreed it would be a good idea to examine it since it has been over two decades.
The firm of Burris, Thompson and Associates will make updates to the personnel policy and pay grades.
The city is declaring the service weapon of Dennis Maddux, who had a very brief tenure as police chief, as surplus.
