The Ringgold PEG Channel is available for Charter Cable TV subscribers
Charter Cable customers accustomed to seeing the Ringgold Government Access Channel or "PEG Channel" on channel 2 will now have to tune into channel 197. The "PEG Channel" which stands for "Public Educational or Government" channel is a TV channel set aside by local cable providers to allow municipalities to provide emergency or educational public broadcasting to their local community.
Previously, the Ringgold PEG channel had been assigned to channel 2 for most basic cable customers. Programs included historical documentaries, promotional videos about visiting Ringgold, high school sporting events, and footage of city parades and festivals. The Ringgold Convention and Visitors Bureau also produces several "Listen, Learn, Local," shows that highlight public service announcements from local experts regarding food, crafts, and other fun activities.
"The PEG Channel is a great way to get an introduction to the City of Ringgold," explained CVB Director Joseph Brellenthin, "especially for people who may not have internet access or for hotel guests who can tune into to find about about the city during their visit." CVB staff films live events and schedules a variety of programs through partnerships with the Ringgold Telephone Company and the Share America Foundation's "Sacred Sounds" performances. The CVB also posts several of the videos on the CVB Youtube Channel to make them available to non-Charter subscribers.
The Ringgold PEG Channel is available for Charter cable customers in the Catoosa County area on Channel 197. For more information contact Ringgold City Hall at 706-935-3061.
