The Region 2 Chess Tournament, which includes 25 counties from Tennessee, was held over the weekend in Crossville, Tn.

The top 8 players in each section qualify to go to the State Finals on Feb. 14.  Suhas Gummadi repeated as Junior High Champion, scoring 4 wins and 1 draw.  The draw came in the second round against George Andreescu of Signal Mountain Middle School, who took home 2nd place, scoring 3 wins and 2 draws.  Nivas Gummadi, Suhas’ younger brother, came in 3rd place in the Primary Grade Section in his first chess tournament.
