Curtis Powell Is Siskin Hospital’s New Vice President Of Quality

Siskin Hospital announced that Curtis Powell has joined the staff as the new vice president of quality.

“I am very excited to join Siskin Hospital. I learned of Siskin Hospital while attending a conference in New Orleans last year and am looking forward to building on the great reputation the hospital has established. I am hoping to contribute, using my skills and experience, to increasing that reputation across the country,” Mr. Powell stated. 

Mr. Powell has served in hospital administrative or management roles for the past 31 years. Formerly, he was the administrator of the Transitional Living Center, assistant Hospital administrator, and director of Respiratory Therapy Services at Casa Colina Centers for Rehabilitation in Pomona, Ca. He also served as the assistant administrator, interim CEO, director of Quality and Risk Management, and director of Respiratory Care at Kindred Hospital Ontario in Ca. Prior to Kindred Hospital, Mr. Powell served as the director of Cardiopulmonary Services at Doctors Hospital, Montclair and Ontario Community Hospital, as well as the director of Cardiopulmonary Services at St. Mary Desert Valley Hospital.  

Mr. Powell maintains his Respiratory Therapy licensure in both Tennessee and California. He has a broad clinical experience including working and supervising in cardiac, pulmonary, trauma, neuro-trauma, pediatric, and neonatal intensive care units. Additionally, he has served as a member of flight teams and code blue teams. 

Mr. Powell has been involved in health education for most of his career. He has guest lectured on the topic of pulmonary mechanics at Western University of Medicine to second year medical students. He has presented to the North Dakota Society of Respiratory Care on Passy Muir valve use in ventilator patients. His publications include “Passy-Muir Valve Helps Ventilator Patients Speak,” Advance for Respiratory Care Practitioners, 17(8), 31, Gudsteinsdottir, E. & Powell, C. (2004). 

He has also taught coursework on respiratory therapy theory and application to respiratory students at American Career College.  He is a current Advanced Cardiac Life Support and Basic Life Support instructor. 

Mr. Powell has a masters degree in Health Administration from the University of La Verne, a bachelors degree in Business and Management from the University of Redlands, and an associate degree in Science in Respiratory Therapy from Victor Valley College.  He has his Registered Respiratory Therapist credential from the American Association of Respiratory Care.
