Pastor Ezra Maize and Friendship Central Community Church – ‘Supernatural’, 7 Tuxedo Ave., will be hosting a 24-hour Preach-a-Thon beginning Saturday Oct. 4 at 11 a.m. and ending on Sunday Oct. 5 at noon.
The 24-hour Preach-a-Thon will be dedicated to and will highlight the names of each of the 24 victims who lost their lives from Jan. 1 of this year to present due to violence. Parents, family members and friends of these victims are invited to attend. The names of one person will be recognized and highlighted each hour during the 24-hour Preach-a-Thon.
"Pastor Maize feels the memory of these victims should not be forgotten and that awareness of the problem of violence and healing of the communities should be an ongoing effort," church officials said.
Several choirs, soloist, and groups have been asked to join in this occasion. Many Pastors, city officials and law enforcement personnel have been asked to participate in this event organizers are calling “Holistic Healing of the communities." Parents and family members are invited to attend and share the memory of their loved one with the audience.
"Pastor Maize feels we must be about our Father’s business to bring balance and peace back to our city. He feels it is imperative that the leaders of the city must come together in ways to change the hearts and mind of the people and embrace the youth of the city," church officials said.
