This week the Chattanooga Police Department announced Alpha Zone will officially be housed at the 11th Street Precinct with Charlie Zone and Bravo Zone. The transition will provide increased coverage and quicker response times throughout Alpha Zone, a zone defined by CPD as beginning north of the Market Street Bridge and continuing to the Hixson area. Officers reporting to Alpha Zone now have three avenues of getting to their area giving the Sector better coverage and quicker response time, said officials.
“As a captain in our police department, it is my job to ensure we provide the most effective service to the community we serve,” said Captain Corliss Cooper. “Not only is it more efficient to have one centralized location, officers serving the Alpha Zone will now have three routes to arrive at their assigned sector, greatly decreasing an officer’s travel time.”
Alpha Zone consists of one lieutenant, six sergeants, and 32 patrol officers. With the addition of Alpha Zone the 11th Street Precinct now houses one captain, three lieutenants, 18 sergeants, 86 patrol officers, and five bike officers.
“The 11th Street Precinct is a great resource for our department and I applaud Captain Cooper for finding a way to provide better service to our citizens,” said Chattanooga Police Chief Fred Fletcher. “Every leader in the Chattanooga Police Department should be thinking through innovative solutions to ensure we utilize every resource to its fullest.”
