Fishing Report From The TWRA

Here is the fishing report from the TWRA:

Dale Hollow: Fishing is slow. Water temperature is 80 degrees; water is falling.
Bass: A few bass are being caught on shallow running crankbaits around shallow wood in the rivers.

Crappie:  A few crappie re being caught on minnows around fallen trees.
Bluegill:
Several bluegill are being caught on crickets and nightcrawlers on bluffs in 25 feet of water.
Walleye:
A few walleye are being caught while jigging spoons in 32 feet of water on breaks near the dam.

Dale Hollow Tailwaters:  Fishing is good.  Several fish are being caught near the dam on flies and live bait in period of no flow.

Great Falls:  Fishing is slow.  Water temperature is 79 degrees; lake is fairly high.
Bass:
A few bass are being caught on buzz baits around laydown trees.


Crappie:  A few crappie are being caught on minnows and jigs in sunken brush in  15 feet of water.

Chickamauga Reservoir:  Reservoir Conditions: Summer normal elevation: 682.0 feet. Winter normal elevation: 676.0 feet. Current elevation: 682.4 feet. The water surface temperature is 82 degrees.
Largemouth Bass: Fair. Plastic worms and weedless topwater lures used near the grass mats is the combination being used most often.
Smallmouth Bass: Poor. Only a few are being caught and these are mainly tailwater fish.  Jigs, spoons and crankbaits are doing the damage.
Crappie: Good. Some open water brush fish and dock related crappie are being caught. These targets are in 20 and 10 feet respectively. Minnows and jigs are equal opportunity offerings.
Striped bass: Good. Shad used in the tailwaters has resulted in good quantities more than quality. Most fish being caught are under 15 pounds.
Bluegill: Good. Upper river drifters and lower lake bluff anglers are catching bluegill while using crickets or worms. 
Catfish: Good. Meaty baits from nearly any source used while drifting in the main channel will result in plentiful opportunities to catch catfish.

Watts Bar:  Reservoir Conditions: Summer normal elevation: 740.5 feet. Winter normal elevation: 736.0 feet. Current elevation: 740.7 feet.
Largemouth Bass: Fair. Several anglers fishing before Saturday were searching for fish for weekend tournaments and very few were happy with the results of their search. Most fish caught were river fish and slow moving lures were being used.
Smallmouth Bass: Fair. Smallmouth bass are being caught by those fishing for largemouth.
Crappie: Good. Open water brush in deep water or fishing under lights at night will increase the opportunity to catch crappie. Minnows are being used more than jigs.
Catfish: Good. River drifters are catching plenty of catfish while using a variety of baits. The stronger the aroma, the more bites one may get.
Striped bass: Good. Some anglers are not catching many or any. A few are catching 30 to 50 a day in the tailwaters. Shad is the bait.
