Partnership Offers Domestic Violence Educational Event

  • Friday, September 12, 2014

Partnership for Families, Children and Adults will be offering a lunch-time education event for people interested in learning more about Domestic Violence in our community. Recent events regarding domestic violence among high profile NFL players has taken the focus off the hundreds of domestic violence victims in our own community. “It’s a shame that domestic violence only receives attention when it involves a rich and famous person,” states Sandra Hollett, CEO of the Partnership.

“It happens here in this area daily. We see domestic violence crossing all economic strata, genders and educational levels. We provide the services to the victims but we as a community must work together to stop it.”

The one-hour session on Thursday, September 25 at noon will cover a variety of topics including the Signs of Abuse, Safety Planning, Community Resources for Victims, How to Help a Friend who is a Victim and How to Talk to your Teen about Domestic Violence. Feel free to bring your lunch to eat during the event. The session will be held at Partnership’s Administrative Offices at 1800 McCallie Ave, Chattanooga, TN 37404. Free parking is available.

If you are interested in having a Partnership Domestic Violence professional address your company, civic group or church about this topic, please call Julie Tipton at 697-3829.

The Partnership’s Family Violence Center provides crisis intervention services, an emergency hotline, counseling, shelter, advocacy and referral services to more than 10,000 individuals and families affected by domestic violence and sexual assault each year. Many of these services are staffed 24 hours a day and are available to assist a client or victim in a moment’s notice. For victims seeking services, help is available by calling the 24/7/365 Crisis Hotline at 755-2700.
