8 Submit Applications To Be Tennessee Attorney General

The Tennessee Supreme Court has received eight applications for the position of Tennessee attorney general and reporter.

The Court plans to meet on Tuesday, to finalize details for the selection process and has tentatively scheduled a public hearing and interviews in Nashville the week of Sept. 8.

The applicants are:

Eugene N. Bulso, Jr., Brentwood

Robert E. Cooper, Jr., Nashville

Mark A. Fulks, Johnson City

William N. Helou, Nashville

James Douglas Overbey, Maryville

Herbert H. Slatery, III, Nashville

Andrew R. Tillman, Huntsville

William E. Young, Brentwood

The Court last appointed an attorney general in 2006. Mr. Cooper has served in the role since his appointment eight years ago. The Tennessee Supreme Court appoints an attorney general for an eight-year term.
