L.V. Summey, 91, of Dalton, GA, died on Sunday, August 17, 2014 at his home.
He was born April 15, 1923 in Murray County, GA to the late Charlie and Mamie Banks Summey; and was also preceded in death by his wife, Louise Davis Summey; brothers, Cecil Summey and Ben Summey; and sisters, Una Summey, Frances Mae Sunney and Jessie McClure.
Mr. Summey worked in the textile industry for many years. He was the owner of L and S Carpet and MVP Carpet. His life’s work consisted of gardening and leading others to Christ. He was a member of the Harmony Grove Baptist Church.
He is survived by his son, Larry Summey of Dalton, GA; daughter, Teresa Silvers of Chatsworth, GA; brother, Paul Summey of Chatsworth, GA; grandchildren, Merinda and Phillip Cash and Derek Silvers of Chatsworth, GA; great-grandchildren, Landon and Brayden Frost; brothers-in-law and sisters-in-law, Helen and Joel McDonald of Ringgold, Linda Loughridge, Jim and Geneva Smith, Clyde and Juanita Parker and Hubert and Sue Davis all of Chatsworth, GA; and nieces and nephews.
Services to celebrate the life of Mr. L.V. Summey will be held Tuesday, August 19, at 2 p.m. at the Ponders Melrose Chapel. Interment will follow beside his loving wife in the Harmony Grove Baptist Church Cemetery.
The family will receive friends from 5-9 p.m. on Monday, August 18 at the Ponders Funeral Home, who has charge of the arrangements.
