Robert Lillard Newman, 78, of Decatur, TN, died on Thursday, July 31, 2014 at his residence.
He was of the Baptist Faith. He was a member of the IBEW Union for 50 years. He retired from T.V.A. after 26 years. =He was a U. S. Army Veteran serving in World War II.
He was preceded in death by her parents, Freeman and Bessie (Mullins) Newman; his wife of 30 years, Jackie L. (Stokes) Newman; and four sisters, Florence Newman, Emma Cecil, Genelle Adams and Julie Swafford.
He is survived by two daughters and sons-in-law, Roberta and Paul Ferguson of Decatur, Pam and Tommy Webb of Decatur; four grandchildren and their spouses, Jason and April Webb, Keith and Heather Webb, Chris and Teresa Bryant and Amanda and Chris Withrow; six great-grandchildren; and several nieces and nephews.
Funeral Service will be Saturday, August 2 at 8 p.m. in the Chapel of Bowers Funeral Home with the Rev. Jamey Davis officiating.
Graveside service will be at 2 p.m., Sunday, August 3, in the Mountain View Memorial Gardens, with Military Honors. Pallbearers will be Chris Bryant, Keith Webb, Brom Stokes, Mile McGrew, Juston Ricker and Tylan Davis. Honorary pallbearer will be Jason Webb.
The family will receive friends Saturday, August 1 from 6-8 p.m. at the Bowers Funeral Home, who has charge of the arrangements.
