Thurman Patton, 96, formerly of South Pittsburg, Tennessee, died on Saturday, June 27, 2014 in Milwaukee, Wisconsin.
he son of the late Roy and Eula Wooten Patton, he was born Oct. 7, 1917, in Hillsboro, Tn. His formal education was acquired in South Pittsburg where he attended McReynolds High School.
He met Louise Williams and they were united in holy matrimony on Nov. 5, 1986. He was a member of Randolph United Methodist Church in South Pittsburg and attended St. James United Methodist Church in Milwaukee.
Thurman enlisted in the United States Army on Sept. 4, 1943, where he earned numerous meritorious medals. Having served honorably, he was discharged on March 31, 1946. Following his military service, Thurman worked in production at the Joseph Schlitz Company for 30 years.
In his leisure time, Thurman enjoyed baseball and fishing. He will be remembered as a kind, even-tempered person.
He was also preceded in death by his wife, Louise Patton; brothers, Wilson Patton, Howard Patton and Herman Patton; and son, Robert L. Williams.
He is survived by his daughters, Brenda (Bernard) Williams and Antoinette Williams of Milwaukee, Wi.; son, Willie Williams of Clarksville, Tn.; and a host of grandchildren, great-grandchildren, great-great-grandchildren and dear friends.
Funeral services were held on Monday, July 7, at St. Mark AME Church in Milwaukee, Wi.
Burial was in Cumberland View Cemetery in Kimball, Tn. on Tuesday, July 8, with Reverend Paul Robinson officiating.
