Julia C. Watkins Mitchell, 94, formerly of the Chattanooga and north Georgia areas, died on Monday, July 28, 2014 in an Atlanta hospital.

A native of Cedar Grove, Ga., Mrs. Mitchell owned and operated several restaurants in the area before moving to Florida. While there, she worked on cruise ships and in hotels and she never met a stranger. She was a member of the Old Antioch Baptist Church and attended Lakeview First Baptist Church. During her final years in an assisted living facility, she was president of the Red Hat Club and enjoyed playing games. 

She was preceded in death by her husband of 33 years, Louis Edward Mitchell, sons, Allen Eugene Mitchell, and William Grant Mitchell, five brothers and one sister.

She is survived by her children, Julia Crimmins, Jackson, GA, Edward Cleve Mitchell, Sr., Independence, MO, Wanda Lou Mitchell, Villa Rica, GA, Stephen E. Mitchell, Jackson, GA, & Timothy Louis Mitchell, Atlanta; 11 grandchildren, 17 great-grandchildren, and many nieces and nephews.

Funeral services will be held on Friday, Aug. 1, at 2 p.m. at Lakeview First Baptist Church with Pastor Patrick Cooper officiating.  Burial will follow in Tennessee-Georgia Memorial Park.
