City Won't Give In On Charging County Schools A Stormwater Fee

  • Wednesday, April 16, 2014

City officials on Tuesday indicated they are not giving in on the subject of charging the county schools a stormwater fee.

The City Council passed a resolution giving the city attorney the authority to sue if necessary for the $1.7 million the city claims that it is currently owed.

City Attorney Wade Hinton said he would not file the suit unless the matter cannot be worked out with the schools, who are suing the city claiming a debt of almost $11 million on liquor tax funds.

School Supt. Rick Smith, in his most recent letter to the city, indicated he would not budge on the stormwater fee.
