John Tilstra
John L. Tilstra, M.D., of Collegedale, Tennessee, died on December 7, 2014 at Life Care Center of Ooltewah.
He was born to missionary parents in Indonesia on January 7, 1930. He graduated from Loma Linda University School of Medicine in 1964. Dr. Tilstra practiced medicine for 40 years, the last 32 as an anesthesiologist in Arcata, Ca., before retiring to Tennessee.
Dr. Tilstra is survived by his wife, Margaret, his children, Marie, Daniel, and Douglas, eight grandchildren, one great-grandchild, one brother, numerous nephews, nieces, and a multitude of friends.
A memorial service is scheduled for Thursday, Dec. 18, at 10 a.m. at the Collegedale Seventh-day Adventist Church.
