Police said a dispute over a card game led Ladaquis Dewartae Southers to shoot Terrence Bivens multiple times.

Southers has been returned to Hamilton County to face a charge of criminal homicide.

Police said Bivens was a validated Athens Park Blood gang member and Southers is in the Bounty Hunter Blood gang.

In the incident on Oct. 27 just before 4 a.m., police responded to a shooting near the Nine Brothers convenience store at 101 W. 38th St.

Bivens was found dead in front of a residence at 3732 Central Ave.

Police said the pair had been playing cards inside, when a physical altercation spilled outside. One witness said Southers and Bivens were the only ones involved in the fight, while another told of trying to break it up.

Witnesses said they heard approximately four gunshots, then saw a vehicle flee.

Multiple spent .380 caliber shell casings were recovered from the scene. In a search of Southers' residence, officers found a Loricin .380 semi-automatic pistol.

One witness said he saw Southers fire at Bivens, then saw the victim "drop."

Police said the argument started over the card game, then escalated when Southers would not give Bivens his cell phone and keys back.

Southers, who lives on Usher Drive, was picked up in Atlanta.
