Chattanooga – See a special semi-staged opera production of “Pirates of Penzance” performed by the Chattanooga Symphony & Opera 7:30 p.m. at the Tivoli Theatre.

Nashville – Take a day trip to discover the Victorian village of Rugby 9 a.m. to 6:30 p.m. leaving from the Tennessee State Museum. Tickets are $45.

Knoxville – All aboard the Christmas Lantern Express trains for holiday fun 9:45 a.m.1 p.m., and 4:15 p.m. Saturdays and 1 p.m. and 4:15 p.m. Sundays, departing from 2560 University Commons Way.

Jackson – Grammy Award nominee John Berry will present “Christmas with John Berry” 8 p.m. at The Ned. Tickets range from $25-$30.

Memphis – See performances from “The Nutcracker” with holiday treats and activities during the Nutcracker Tea 2 p.m. at the Peabody Memphis.

Dec. 1

Athens – Local bands, dancers, floats with Christmas lights, and Santa are featured in the Jimmy Liner Memorial Christmas Parade, one of the oldest Christmas parades in Tennessee7 p.m. at Athens City Middle School.

Dec. 2

Townsend – Hear Allen Coggins present “Place Names of the Smokies” 2 p.m. at Great Smoky Mountains Heritage Center.

Dec. 4

Ripley – Attend the Christmas parade filled with floats and City Mayor Jon Pavletic as Grand Marshal 6:30 p.m. beginning at Ripley City Park.

Dec. 6

Bell Buckle – Have an Old-Fashioned Christmas with a sleigh ride, hot cocoa, s’mores, Santa, carolers, and more 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. in Historic Bell Buckle.

Monteagle – See spectacular floats during the Monteagle Christmas Parade of Lights 4:30 p.m. beginning at the Smoke House and ending at the Monteagle City Hall.

Nashville – All that glitters in “Good as Gold” is gold as families work to create gold-gilded holiday gifts 1-5 p.m. at the Frist Center for the Visual Arts’ Studios A and C.

Memphis – A cast of characters ranging from the Grinch to Santa will be in attendance for the Red Carpet Christmas Celebration 10 a.m. to 1 p.m. at Children’s Museum of Memphis.

Dec. 6-7, 12-14, 19-20

Spring City – The town’s Festival of Trees will feature beautiful decorations through the month of December. Other activities include visits from Santa and a Christmas parade.
