Here is the fishing report from the TWRA:
Chickamauga Reservoir: Reservoir Conditions: Summer normal elevation: 682.0 feet. Winter normal elevation: 676.0 feet. Current elevation: 677.9 feet. The water surface temperature is in the 50's to 60's depending on time of day and location.
Largemouth Bass: Good. Matted grass and clumps in 3 to 5 feet of water with frogs, buzzbaits, and plastic worms is the combination being used to catch bass.
Smallmouth Bass: Fair.
Jigs, spoons, and some crankbaits, are being used to catch tailgate smallmouth around humps and along banks.
Crappie: Great. Jigs and minnows used around docks and bluff walls are the patterns being used.
Striped bass: Tailwater anglers are catching a few on shad or jigs. Stripers are moving downstream.
Bluegill: Bluff walls lake wide and the main channel on the mid to upper reservoir. Use worms.
Walleye and Sauger: Some reports of walleye and sauger being caught in the tailwaters while trolling crank baits.
Catfish: Main channel drifters are using meaty baits. Several fish are being caught.
Dale Hollow: Fishing is good. Water temperature is 56 degrees; lake is falling.
Smallmouth: Several smallmouth are being caught on shad, while fishing points in 20 feet of water.
Largemouth: Lots of largemouth are being caught on the Alabama rigs while fishing points in 20-25 feet of water in the rivers.
Crappie: A few crappie are being caught around laydown trees in 20 feet of water when using minnows.
Great Falls: Water temperature is 52; lake is falling. Fishing is slow.
Bass: A few bass are being caught on crankbaits around bridge piers when fish are chasing shad.
Crappie: A few crappie being caught on minnows and around sunken brush in 20 feet of water. Musky: A few musky are being caught on large jerk baits above Hwy III bridge.
Watts Bar: Reservoir Conditions: Summer normal elevation: 740.5 feet. Winter normal elevation: 736.0 feet. Current elevation: 739.4 feet. The water surface temperature is in the 50's to 60's.
Largemouth Bass: Good. Main lake rocky banks are being fished with jigs, crankbaits and topwater lures. Shad in some sloughs and moving into others. Some shallow fish are being caught and some schooling fish are being caught.
Smallmouth Bass: Good. Most are caught while targeting largemouth.
Walleye: Tailwater anglers were sparse last week, but some indications of sauger and walleye fishing improving.
Crappie: Good. Minnows and jigs used around sunken brush in 10 to 16 feet of water is the combination needed.
Catfish: Drifters are catching many on meaty baits in the main channel.
Striped bass: Great if you locate them. Mid lake areas are best. Schooling action near shad. Swimbaits or shad are the best baits.
