Reported Hostage Situation In Cleveland Turns Out To Be A Hoax

A woman is in custody after claiming to be in a hostage situation Wednesday morning in Cleveland.

Shortly after 3:20 a.m., an attempt to serve arrest warrants for Megan Haire was made at 1202 Wildwood Lake Road. No contact was made with the woman.

At approximately 3:54 a.m., the 911 Center received a call from a woman inside the home claiming to be the victim in a hostage situation.

The Cleveland Police Department responded along with the Criminal Investigations Division, hostage negotiators and the SWAT team.

After making contact with the reported suspect and homeowner, it was confirmed that the hostage situation was indeed a hoax by the wanted woman. The woman identified as Megan Haire was placed into custody and transported to the Bradley County Justice Center. Other charges may be pending.

The situation was handled efficiently without injuries of any parties. Officials thanked the patrol officers, Lt. Harbison and his investigators, negotiators, the SWAT team and the scene commander, Captain Dennis Maddux, for their quick response.
