The Tennessee Association of Student Councils wrapped up its 2024 State Convention at Collierville High School in Memphis, with the Soddy Daisy High School student council bringing home numerous accolades. Among the highlights was the election of sophomores Ryan Jenkins and Adison Coleman as secretary co-host elect, which will bring the 2026 TASC State Convention to Soddy Daisy.
The Soddy Daisy High School student council was recognized with the highest leadership award for their impactful work on culture and climate, an honor shared with only six other schools across the state. Additionally, they were celebrated for their projects including Daisy Crazy Christmas, Winter Wishes and Rare Disease Day. Several students were acknowledged for their individual contributions to leadership: Olivia Terry, Emily Iery, Anna Rector, Alivia Hall, Javalynn Bull, Leigha Lowe, Ryan Jenkins and Adison Coleman.
The 2026 State Convention will bring economic benefits to Soddy Daisy, drawing hundreds of students and families from across Tennessee. The local economy is expected to see a positive impact, benefiting the city and small businesses alike, said officials.
Support for this initiative has been strong, with Soddy Daisy’s mayor and board of commissioners pledging their backing. Tennessee House District 27 State Rep. Patsy Hazlewood expressed her enthusiasm for the event: "I am so proud of Ryan and Adison for bringing the Tennessee Association of Student Councils State Convention to District 27 in 2026. It presents a real opportunity for Soddy Daisy and Hamilton County to showcase our wonderful community. With leaders like Ryan and Adison, our future is in good hands."
