"I Want To See if I Can Find My Teeth: How Battlefield Injures Changed Soldiers" Program Is May 25

  • Friday, May 10, 2024
Chickamauga and Chattanooga National Military Park will present a one-hour ranger program on Saturday, May 25 at 11 a.m. focusing on soldiers’ injuries associated with the Battle of Chickamauga. This program will begin at the Chickamauga Battlefield Visitor Center, then it will car caravan out onto the battlefield.

Officials said, "During the Battle of Chickamauga, men were exposed to horrible sights and injuries that stayed with them, either hidden in their minds, or by having to live with the crippling effects of the physical injuries they received.
This program will explore the experiences of three men who fought at Chickamauga on those bloody days in September 1863 and find out how the battle shaped the rest of their days."

For more information about programs at Chickamauga and Chattanooga National Military Park, contact the Chickamauga Battlefield Visitor Center at 706-866-9241, the Lookout Mountain Battlefield Visitor Center at 423-821-7786, or visit the park website at www.nps.gov/chch.
