Margaret Ann Warrenfells Hogan, 83 passed away from this life after a long, courageous fight with cancer on Sunday, April 28, 2024.

She was born in Chattanooga, Tn., and a graduate of City High School. She attended Carson Newman College and worked at Hamilton National Bank where she met and married the love of her life of 55 years, Jack Harlon Hogan. They started their family deeply committed to raising three boys in a Christian home, filled with love, laughter, and discipline. She and Jack loved watching their sons and grandchildren at various sporting and musical events. They enjoyed hiking together, gardening, and watching the Georgia Bulldogs and Atlanta Braves. She was a member East Brainerd Church of Christ, and over her life taught many children’s classes and especially loved teaching in Vacation Bible School at Brainerd and Bethel Churches of Christ. She had a passion for the Snack Pak ministry at East Brainerd Church of Christ.

Margaret did whatever she could to help support the family while her sons attended Boyd-Buchanan School by being a playground and cafeteria worker, and bookkeeper. Later in life she became a Certified Nursing Assistant and worked at Martin Boyd Home, which she thoroughly enjoyed. To put it simply, Mom loved people. Up until her passing she greeted people with a smile, a wave, a hug, usually followed by an “I love you”. As is often said of her, Mom never met a stranger. That was her gift – unconditionally loving and caring for anyone she met, an example to her family and friends that is a major part of her legacy.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Jack Hogan, parents Joseph and Rebecca Warrenfells, and brothers George and Gene Warrenfells.

She is survived by three sons: Joey (Joy) Hogan of Chattanooga, Andy (Amy) Hogan of Atlanta and Barry Hogan of Sevierville, Tn.. Seven grandchildren; Ben (Sarah) Hogan, Megan (Colin) Raney, Drew (Alana) Hogan, Matthew (Taylor) Holland, Matthew (Hannah) Hogan, Conner Hogan, Gracie Hogan; and four great grandchildren, Wren, Rosie and George Hogan, and Isla Raney.

The funeral will be on Wednesday, May 1, at the North Chapel of the Chattanooga Funeral Home at 1 p.m. Visitation for friends and family will be from 11 a.m. until service time at North Chapel. Interment will follow at Chattanooga Memorial Park.

The family would like to thank the staff at Morning Pointe East Hamilton and Hospice of Chattanooga for their gracious and compassionate care for Mom.

In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to Boyd-Buchanan School or the Snack Pak Ministry at East Brainerd Church of Christ.

Arrangements are by the North Chapel of Chattanooga Funeral Home, Crematory, and Florist, 5401 Highway 153, Hixson, Tn. 37343.
