Stan was born on December 13, 1957, in Jamestown, NY to Stanley Darrel Furlow Sr. and Patricia Gilbert. Stan was known to all as “Darrel” throughout his school years. He attended C.C. Ring Elementary School, Jefferson Junior High School, and Jamestown High School and graduated in 1977. During his junior high and high school years, Stan was very involved in music and theater arts. He appeared in several musical productions during this time and was also a member of the A ‘Capella Choir, Men of Tomorrow, and the Madrigal Singers in High School. Upon his discharge, Stan returned to Gray Drugs and worked there until his move to Tennessee where he apprenticed at several small restaurants as a chef. He then obtained a job at Chattanooga State College as a Catering Services coordinator until the time of his passing.

Stan was a very loving and gentle person. He was a teddy bear of a man and gave the greatest hugs ever. He was very much a family man and loved them unconditionally. Nothing gave him more pride than to watch his children and grandchildren grow. He was also a dedicated friend and would do anything for anyone if he could. He often played Santa Claus at different events and for family and friends. He loved life and lived it to the fullest.

Stan is survived by his mother, Patricia Gilbert of Jamestown, NY, two sons, Joshua Furlow of Cattaraugus, NY and Zachary Furlow of Columbus, Indiana. He is also survived by Jared Bice of Hixson, whom he viewed as a son.
