A semi on fire closed I-24 eastbound at Germantown Road for period of time Sunday evening
The cab of a tractor trailer, completely engulfed in flames, closed eastbound I-24 Sunday evening. It has now been reopened.
East Ridge Fire and Police were dispatched to a reported vehicle fire located at 18300 block of I-24, near Germantown Road, eastbound at 7:09 p.m.
Upon arrival units reported that the vehicle was a tractor trailer with the tractor totally involved with fire.
Crews started an aggressive fire attack and called mutual aid for a tanker from Chattanooga Fire. Chattanooga Tanker 8 and Quint 8 were dispatched to assist with water.
Chattanooga Police and TDOT assisted the police with traffic control.
The interstate was shut down for a short period of time on the eastbound side while crews extinguished the fire.
No injuries were reported.
The cause of the fire is under investigation by the East Ridge Fire Investigation Division.
