Flooding Brings Additional Closures At The Riverwalk; More Heavy Rain Possible

  • Thursday, September 27, 2018

The Riverpark boat ramp and fishing piers are now closed due to weather conditions.

County officials earlier said the high waters had caused the closure of sections of the popular walkway along the Tennessee River.

The boat ramp and fishing piers are located just off Amnicola Highway.

The forecast includes the possibility of more heavy rain today (Thursday) into the overnight period.

Local residents should finally begin seeing sunny skies on Friday afternoon into Saturday.

The local flooding has already brought the drowning of a Soddy Daisy woman, Tina King Thorpe. An 11-year-old was rescued from flood waters. A kayaker was missing, but was able to get to shore safely.
