Mark Lewis Mayes was arrested on Sunday after Bradley County authorities found a drug lab in an apartment complex.

Mayes, 42, was charged with criminal attempt to manufacture Schedule II - Fentanyl and felonious possession of drug paraphernalia.

A Hazmat team had to be called out to 3292 Spring Place Road, Apt. 8, in Cleveland.

Authorities went to the scene after residents said Mayes was peeking through their windows and aggravating them.

An officer who found the door open to Apt. 8 said the room was filled with fumes and there was a strong chemical odor.

The officer said he found Mayes in a back bedroom. He said he got him out of the unit immediately.

A large number of chemicals and other drug items were retrieved from the apartment.
